Merrel in Bentonville
Merrel and I moved to Bentonville, AR in 1976. Merrel felt God's leading him there to plant a new church. He worked for almost a year erecting a nice building before actually beginning to seek people to come and form the church body. He pastored the church until 1990. The church now has it's third pastor since we left and each year for the past 4 years the present pastor has invited Merrel to speak at their annual homecoming. We drove there this past Sunday, had a wonderful service and are so pleased that the church is doing well and people continue to be saved and serve God. The building looks great even after 31 years. Time marches on!!! It is difficult to know we went there 31 years ago!!! Memories of those years are so fresh and pleasant.
We received another blessing last Saturday. Courtney and Stephen invited us to a nice dinner that they prepared for us, Jan, Sherlyn and Stephen's parents. We had not met the parents before and were very impressed with their friendliness and their acceptance of their future daughter-in-law. (Courtney will be their FAVORITE daughter-in-law as they have only one son!!!) They are a very fine, Christian family and our time spent with them was very delightful. Also, the meal Stephen and Courtney prepared was delicious, very well done with lots of "trimmings"---lace tablecloth, nice china and glassware!!!. I told Stephen he might not want to eat with us any more as I don't do all those fancy things. We look forward to spending many more meals and visits with the family over the years.
My love to all,
Dortha
