Monday Night

I suppose these pictures are pretty self explanatory. I am not looking forward to experiencing the last few but can relate to many of the earlier ones. I don't think I ever had a baby buggy and I know I never had a tricycle. When I was pre-teen, I wanted a bicycle sooo badly. Of course, there was no money for extra things---only necessities. I earned a few dollars each Fall by picking cotton. Most of the money I earned had to buy new shoes for school and a Winter coat but I was able to save a dollar or two each year until I had saved $7.50. A young boy in our community had a bicycle he would sell for $7.50. I remember handing him my money and riding the bicycle home on a hot Summer afternoon. It was a used bike, of course, and was a boy's bike but that didn't bother me!!! I was 11 years old at that time and that bicycle took me many places and was very special to me. I had only dirt and gravel roads to ride on but that didn't slow me down. I had to go away from home when I was 15 so I could attend high school, the bike went with me and I rode it to school. (I had paved streets to ride on there and that was a real treat.)

I don't understand why these pictures won't let me type below them but they insist on staying below my typing so you will have to scroll down to know what I have been talking about.

This has been a beautiful day---a bit cold but sunny and nice. I accomplished two jobs I really needed to do and I feel good about that. Jan, Sherlyn and Courtney ate evening meal with us and we had a good visit. Sherlyn has been complaining that my post is not ready to read before she leaves home some mornings so she will not have to complain tomorrow. She can read one that has been waiting over night!!!!!

We had to say "good-bye" to Devin. He will be driving until midnight or later. He thinks he can come home for one or two days at Christmas time. That will be great. One of G.J.'s friends died today. They played ball together for 6 years. G.J. will come for the funeral but it is not yet scheduled. The boy was showing another how fast his new car would go, lost control, hit an embankment and was thrown from the car. It happened Sat. night and Ryan was the first to come upon the accident. He called 911 and held the boy's head until help arrived. Ryan knew the boy as did G.J. but because of the injuries and blood, he could not recognize him. The accident happened only a few miles from our house.

Five minutes until my bedtime so I will say.......................

Good night to all,
Dortha
