We Can Dream!!!!
We all dreamed of a BEAUTIFUL Fall and so far we continue to dream. Perhaps we are a wee bit impatient. We were so confident that we would have breath-taking, Fall colors to enjoy and so far that has not happened. We see a beautiful tree here and there but they are few and far between. For the most part, instead of our trees displaying brilliant reds, oranges and yellows our leaves are turning brown and turning 'loose'. We are, however, having perfect temps and lots of sunshine so it is still a very enjoyable season.
We had a very good week-end. Our church conducted our yearly Missions Conference this past week and yesterday was commitment Sunday and last night we had an all church International Dinner. There was more food than you can imagine and many tasty dishes which were representative of the different countries our missionaries represent. I would have planned the dinner a bit differently had I done the planning but no one asked my opinion. Can you imagine a not-large-enough area with 10 'booths', each one containing the foods representing a particular country and at least 400 people trying to find an opening to view and hopefully 'grab' a bit of this and that??? Well, since our services were spaced over 5 days and/or nights with each service offering food, I would have chosen 2 nights to offer foods from 2 countries, the next 2 nights would offer foods from a different 2 countries and so-on. That way we could have viewed and spent more time understanding the different foods. Oh, well, as I said, no one asked my opinion.!!! It was their loss!!!! Our church is very mission minded and we are encouraged to take part in our Faith Promise Program. Last year our Faith Promise Program received almost $300,000.00. That, of course, is in addition to our tithes and offerings.
Well, this is a brand new week and I have no special plans but do have lots of unfinished projects I should attend to. We are expecting CA company and perhaps some from other areas for Thanksgiving and I need to be preparing for that. (I have begun stock-piling groceries!!) Thanksgiving is a very special season. We are looking forward to it.
Have a great day,
Dortha
