Just a Simple "Hello" 7-31-07

I have nothing interesting to post but you know me---I can talk even when I don't have anything to say!! Today is a lazy day on Holland Hill. Yesterday was bean canning day and tomorrow will be bean canning day but today is do-as-I please day. All I have done so far is prepare a noon meal for Merrel, Jan, Jaron, Courtney, Sherlyn, G.J., Kristen, Andrew and, of course myself. After the meal, everyone went in different directions oh, yes, I cleaned up the kitchen!!!. Courtney has a new job and she seems happy. She is receptionist for a busy company only about 2 miles from her house. That is good considering the price of gasoline these days. She dresses up with nice clothes and her "heels" and looks so pretty.

I think this blogging will be so much fun if and when some folks decide to join Kim and me. Until then, the two of us will enjoy each other's postings. Actually, I am practicing and it may be to your advantage that you aren't too involved until I learn more about what to do. I will again try to add a picture.

Until later, take care,
Dortha

This is one of those pictures where I wish I could edit out the background. Of course, the boys' room is a mess, the sheets are off the bed being laundered, and Cole doesn't even have clothes on, but maybe it's just showing a more real slice of my life than if it were immaculate. Plus, I think this picture made me pause and think, Wow, Cole doesn't look like a baby anymore.

Baylea and her legendary tongue. I remember holding her at the hospital the night she was born. She yawned and stuck her tongue out, and I thought, "How does she keep it in her mouth?" She's quite proud of it, though, and will gladly show you how she can touch the tip of her nose with it.

And here's Baylea in a picture she won't mind us showing when she's a teenager.

The kids got some heely's. They're a pretty good invention, by the way. They are regular shoes with a wheel on the bottom that can flip in or out. Just tilt your toes up, and you're off! The kids are getting the hang of it, slowly.

Doesn't this just scream "Ornery" to you?

Come on, Holland Central readers. Add your own pictures so this doesn't become the Kim Show. Grandmother Holland has already asked nicely, so it's your turn. If you need help or just want to email me your pics and have me post them, just send them to victory792@msn.com. Thanks!!!!!

Kim

Mon. July 23,2007

Good Morning to everyone, I hope you had an enjoyable week end and will have a blessed week.As you already know, this posting is all new to me and I am now trying to learn how to post pictures. I suppose I am over-looking something. I will keep trying.Dortha

I feel all alone in the world!!!

You should be so proud of me!!!! I suppose I should say I am so proud of myself since I have no idea if anyone will ever view this posting. Anyway, I finally was able to add a picture. This one is of me and Merrel at our 60th wedding anniversary party in January.
I feel as if I am writing to and for myself since it seems no one else is looking or posting. I still like the idea and appreciate Kim's efforts to set it all up for us. Perhaps someone will decide to join eventually.
Today is the last Sunday, in fact, almost the last day of July. Next we will have August and ever so soon it will be Fall time. We have had a great Summer---it has just seemed much too short. We just try to enjoy each day as it comes.
More later,
Dortha

Trial Run!!!

Well, here goes!!! I don't really know what I am doing and I may not do it right but I can and WILL learn!! I think Kim has a great idea and has made an easy way for us to keep in touch and share news and needs. I appreciate her efforts and knowledge to set up the account for us. I hope many will take the time to post often.

I certainly do enjoy reading Kim's postings and look forward to the pictures of her little family. It makes us feel as if we are not so far apart even though the miles say we are.

Things are good on Holland Hill. Merrel is beginning to wish his garden would "quit". He gets a bit weary picking beans every other day plus all the other yard work and garden work he has to do.

We got news last evening that Donna (Holland) Anderson has cancer. She will go to Okla. City next Wed. to see an Oncoligist (I don't know how to spell that word) who will schedule surgery within the month. Needless to say, she is very concerned, as we all are because of the many years her mother suffered with cancer which eventually took her life at age 66. She will appreciate your prayers.

I wish for everyone a great and blessed week-end.

There's no place like Grandmother's kitchen table.

Monday, July 16, 2007

I set this up so that members of the extended Holland family can keep up on what's happening in our various parts of the country through a centrally located site. You are encouraged to add your own pictures, comments, and blog posts. We want to see what your family is doing, hear what funny things your kids say, or read what's on your mind currently.

Anyone can read this page, but to be able to add pics or blog entries to this site, you need to login with a gmail account that I set up for this particular purpose. If I haven't sent you notice already, you can get the information from Grandmother Holland. She has the gmail account and password. Once you sign in, go to the dashboard, then click on New Post.

As far as adding pictures, I recommend using Picasa. Go to www.picasa.google.com and sign up, it's free. This program will pull any picture you have stored in your computer and place it into an organized folder-thingy (sorry, I'm not very technical.) From that page, you select one or more pictures, then click on the orange square with a B on it that says Blog this! It will put your photo on the blog and you can also add writing as well.

Please send any questions to me to victory792@msn.com. I hope many of you take this as an opportunity to share with your family what's going in your life. Thanks a lot!

Kim (Holland) Bartlett
